"THE JAZZ CONVENTION" is an Italian band known for their interesting interpretation of the productions close to the Afro American post-bop. un'interpretazione tutta italiana delle produzioni vicine al post-bop afro-americane.
This is what the journalist Giorgio Lombardi said about the band: "Once again I had the chance to praise the hard work of searching, experimenting and fusing together old and new musical as an alternative to the conventional tendencies."
"The Jazz Convention" project started in the "Baresi mines" a few years ago, thanks to Nicola Conte, the leading inspiration for an interesting group of young jazzmen I would call "scapigliati " ( dissolute ) according to theri wish for what's new. If the style fo the jazz schools has never been predominant in the above mentioned artistic production, here the very young artists of The Jazz Convention group intend to go through the still vital and persistent Hard Bop trend, particularly the Blue Note pattern of the sixties. Obviously it is mainly a way of getting back and interpreting in modern terms unexplored sounds and atmospheres, overflowing with vital sap, willing to relive through the sensitivity and taste of the modern artists.
The Band is composed of Gianluca Petrella (trombone), Fabrizio Bossa (trumpet), Giuseppe Bassi (double bass), Fabio Accardi (drums), Gaetano Partipilo (saxophone), Ettore Carucci (piano), Stefano Bollani (piano).
