One year after the release of the 12” “Deixa Passar / Ilê”, Gerardo Frisina once again weaves his artistic path together with those of Luzia Dvorek and Toco, giving life to a new collaboration that this time places Luzia’s voice at center stage — radiant and storytelling, like a thread guiding the listener into a tale that is both intimate and universal.
“Meu Canto” takes shape from an original composition by Gerardo Frisina, who signs both music and production, crafting a soundscape that is dreamlike and immersive, suspended between delicacy and depth. Upon this musical texture, like paint on a still-living canvas, Luzia Dvorek has drawn the melodic line and written the lyrics, joined by Toco, whose refined backing vocals further enrich the song’s emotional dialogue.
The lyrics of “Meu Canto” are a journey into roots and origins: they tell the story of Luzia’s family, deeply embedded in the warm, fertile land of northeastern Brazil, and especially in Bahia — a place of memory, identity, and spirituality. It is a narrative that speaks of singing as both destiny and refuge, of music as a constant presence, nurtured since childhood, capable of giving voice to memories and transforming them into shared emotion.
Adding further nuance to the piece is the flute of Alfonso Deidda, whose airy timbre introduces new shades of color to the composition.
The single “Meu Canto” will be released on a 7-inch vinyl, paired with “A Lenda do Abaeté”, the celebrated composition by Dorival Caymmi, here reimagined and sensitively arranged by Gerardo Frisina. A respectful and inspired homage to Bahia and to the legendary Abaeté Lagoon in the heart of Salvador, the track enters into an ideal dialogue with the lead song, expanding its cultural and emotional horizon. A sonic diptych that celebrates memory, ancestral land, and the indissoluble bond between music, storytelling, and identity — ultimately exalting the voice of Luzia.
