Released: 2024
With “Deixa Passar” two main Schema Records artists Gerardo Frisina and Tomaz Di Cunto relive their collaboration, five years after the release of the EP “Frisina Meets Toco”, creating a new piece of modern samba jazz imbued with mystical and folk influences, on which Toco and Luzia Dvorek’s voices duet. An additional contribute to the sonic texture of this song is offered by Gianluca Petrella (trombone) and Eduardo Taufic (piano).
“Deixa Passar” is a composition that thrives on contrasts, between popular tunes and modern sounds, acoustic instruments and electronic music, Toco’s ‘severe’ voice and Luzia’s sweeter, lighter one. Introduced by a suspended atmosphere made of ethereal melodies, the song gradually unfolds on a moving rhythm that seems to come straight from a Brazilian carnival parade, in which people try to forget the pain and loneliness of everyday life by letting themselves go in the frenzy of the party; like a few days lasting dream, the carnival ends, leaving a little of their sadness on the ground, in the alleys, in the streets of Brazil.
In addition to digital streaming, “Deixa Passar” will also be released in January 2025, accompanied by a second unreleased track, in a new 12” EP where both tracks will appear in their original and remixed versions.
