While we wait for the new album to be released after the summer, which will be sung entirely by Chiara Castello, The Dining Rooms are unexpectedly releasing a very peculiar album, entirely instrumental except for the last track, sung by Francesca Bono. The story of this album is very bizarre, starting with a work entitled ‘Sensibili alle Foglie’ (Sensitive to Leaves), commissioned to Stefano and Cesare by a fictitious gallery owner and film producer.
The aim was to produce a series of musical pieces inspired by some last century iconic personalities, a sonorization for an exhibition of sculptures dedicated to them and, in a second moment, a soundtrack for a documentary on the production of the exhibition itself.
The duo started to work with great enthusiasm because the chosen characters were part of their cultural background.
Individuals who were controversial too, but all of them driven by an almost uncontrollable desire to change the state of events.
From Mario Schifano and Marianne Faithfull to Alighiero Boetti, from Renato Curcio and Mara Cagol to Joe Strummer, through Antonia Pozzi, Francesca Woodman and Pier Paolo Pasolini.
Halfway into the project, however, the producer disappeared, inevitably leaving the work unfinished.
Some years later, Stefano and Cesare decided to resume the task, by adding some new arrangements and asking Francesca Bono if she could sing on the closing track. Eventually, they finalised and released the completed tracks, naming the work “Sensibili alle Foglie (The Lost Soundtrack)”.
Available only on digital platforms, it ranges between cinematic atmospheres, electronic and concrete music.
