“Qui C’Est Celui-Là” is a very popular song among French pop music lovers; it was originally composed as “Partido alto” by Chico Buarque in the early ‘70, and then translated into French by Marie Vassiliu for her husband Pierre. With his personal interpretation Toco, under S-Tone Inc.’s wise production, transformed it into the perfect encounter between Brazilian Popular Music and the French ‘chanson’. “Qui C’Est Celui-Là” is now finally available worldwide on all digital platforms, starting September 25th, 2026 for the first time ever!

Before now, Toco’s beautiful rendition of this classic track could only be found on the rare French-only CD release of his debut album “Instalaçao Do Samba” and, besides digitally, is also included in the first ever LP reissue of the album, which will give the album the analogue home it always seemed destined to have.

Toco’s “Instalação Do Samba”, released in 2004, is an understated debut that’s become one of the defining albums in the history of Schema Records. When Brazilian music was often revisited through nostalgia or diluted into lounge clichés, Toco offered something remarkably different. The resulting effort is an album that embraced the essence of samba and bossa nova while allowing them to breathe naturally within a contemporary musical landscape, blended jazz, soul, subtle electronics and sophisticated arrangements for a timeless result.
